We’re celebrating this quarter and for several great reasons.

  • Last quarter’s Construction Distribution magazine reprint newsletter - It gave us the chance to tell you more about MCA and present it in a different format that we hope you found entertaining and interesting.
  • Our new Milwaukee location - Now we can bring all the great products, service and value to the Milwaukee contractors that we have been bringing to Chicago contractors for the past 27 years! (See What’s New at MCA.)
  • Our great product lines – In this newsletter we mention just two of hundreds of products we carry in-stock for your convenience. See the MVP section below and the Ask Jimbo section on the back page for more.
  • Great employees – This month we celebrate one of so many important contributors to MCA’s staff, Ralph Townsend.
  • You – As always, we’re glad you have chosen MCA to help you meet the needs of your customers. It is because of you, your business and your relationships with MCA that we have so much to celebrate.

Thanks for another great construction season and let’s keep it going until the snow flies. You ask us for what you need and we’ll do our best to deliver it.

Until next quarter….keep pouring!

Mike Longfield
President

When a call comes in from a customer in need MCA responds as quickly as necessary to solve the problem. This was the case not long ago when a foreman from H.J. Pokorny underestimated his requirements for a waterproofing membrane product. The slab pour was scheduled for 6AM the next day and the building inspector was expected later that afternoon for pre-pour approval.

While the job site was located about two hours south of the MCA Naperville store and the product was 45 minutes west of MCA’s Elgin location Jan Ehrhart, Manager of the Naperville MCA location, and her team of sales and logistics experts worked with Pokorny to save the day.

“Once we located what the customer needed we then had the challenge of beating the clock,” says Ehrhart. “We asked the contractor to start heading north while we went to get the product and then head south to meet them somewhere in the middle. It all worked out for the contractor and we got to earn their business one more day.”

Let’s hear a story from you where MCA really helped save the day!

One way MCA makes life easier for its customers is by offering products that save time, money…and energy. We know that working with concrete is hard work. That’s why some of the first products MCA carried and continues to carry to this day are Contractor Wheelbarrows from STERLING.

“Product preferences can be regional, but STERLING is the only brand of wheelbarrows that contractors in Chicago will accept,” says Mike Longfield, president of MCA. “We’ll see if contractors feel the same way in Milwaukee.”

The units feature a deep, narrow tray positioned far forward on the undercarriage which puts 80% of the load over the wheel with only 20% on the contractor. This means heavier loads can be carried with less effort.

The STERLING one-piece all welded leg unit key seated to the routed wood frame gives a loaded wheelbarrow greater stability both under transport and at rest. And their POLY-U tired wheels with molded, high density polyurethane guarantee no flats on the job site. Together with the patented roll-bar support (RSU) feature the tires keep the load stable in motion.

The standard tray is made of heavv-duty 16 gauge metal with a continuous 5/16’’ rod under the welded rim. This far surpasses the light-weight trays used on most competitive barrows for stability and durability.

In addition to steel-trayed heavy duty Contractor Wheelbarrows, STERLING also offers STERLING-LITE PLUS units with polyurethane trays, brick barrows, concrete carts (Georgia buggies) and other heavy duty “People Powered Equipment.”

Ask your MCA sales professional for details on how MCA and STERLING can lighten your load.
