Cooler weather is right around the corner but variable weather will come first in October and early November. Here's a couple of tips and products that will make your crews more comfortable and keep your concrete curing properly.

  • Fall Fashion for Construction Workers? Layered clothing. You know it can be cold in the early morning -- yet swelteringly hot by noon or 1 o'clock. By dressing in layers of clothing you can wear more -- or less -- as needed throughout the day.
  • Don't Forget the Gloves. MCA's line of Ironclad® gloves keeps your hands warm and working in the cold. And our hard hat liners keep your head warm and …thinking.
  • Heat it up! When the weather gets cold and stays cold consider warming up the crew with a job site space heater. MCA carries three types of forced air heaters.
  • Frozen Ground Calls for Steel. Steel stakes, that is. They go into the ground so much easier than the wooden ones at this time of the year.
  • Keep it Warm! Just like us humans, the concrete needs to stay warm, too! If it gets cold and freezes before it's set up, you've got problems. Try a Midwest Canvas® brand curing blanket to keep it from freezing…and cracking!
  • Set it up FAST! Consider using one of Conspec's accelerators like C-Set or Q-Set. Both reduce the overall set-up time for the concrete and both are V.O.C. compliant.

Last quarter readers told us the biggest issue facing their business was too much work --not enough workers. We also got some nice comments about the newsletter itself. Thanks so much!

This quarter tell us "What Do You Think" about the new format for the newsletter. We want to hear what readers like and don't like so we can keep improving. Are we missing something? Tell us what else you'd like to see in the newsletter to make it even more helpful for you.
